These schools shape the future of more than half the nation’s children, yet they are low resourced and face a shortage of trained teachers, learning materials and basic infrastructure.
Despite high enrolment, students struggle to achieve grade-level learning benchmarks. Literacy does not necessarily lead to strong Learning Outcomes. The challenge is more acute in sparsely served States, as in the Northeast of India, where due to challenges of inimical weather, difficult terrain, lack of road infrastructure and low-density populations spread across large areas, reaching children becomes difficult.
With one of the world’s youngest populations today, India is at a demographic sweet spot but by 2041 the average age will become 59 and start moving to a geriatric age group. India must urgently bridge the learning gap to ensure children grow into a valuable addition to the workforce and contribute to the growth of the economy.
But today, in India, more than half of school going children have limited access—held back not by their potential, but by a system that needs urgent strengthening.
At Reach to Teach Foundation, we believe education is a supply chain—every link needs strengthening. From State Education Departments and their functionaries to teachers who are integral to children learning, to parents and communities who nurture learning—everyone plays a role.
We first listen to what our user groups want and consequent to this extensive consultation, we design tools, frameworks, collaterals and resources based on real learning needs and directly linked to Learning Outcomes. Our design thinking approach is not just transforming how children learn, but also how teachers teach—with empathy, creativity, and confidence. It’s working. The impact is real. And it aligns closely with India’s vision under the National Education Policy 2020 and the Sustainable Development Goals—SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
And that purpose is clear: to build an India where every child learns, where our economy grows, and where teachers lead and support from the front.
Your support will strengthen each link of the supply chain transforming the way children learn. Every act of giving is a precious drop in an ocean of children looking to be a part of Indian’s growth story. Your contribution is supporting the dreams of millions of children looking to a bright future. You will be an integral part of building a stronger, bolder, and vibrant India.
In line with the requirements of the Income Tax Department governing donations, a donor is required to add their address and PAN number if they are to receive the 80G tax exemption certificate.
Reach to Teach Foundation works at a systems level to achieve scale. All funds raised by Reach to Teach Foundation will be pooled together and used for design, implementation, training and creation of tools and modules to strengthen Learning Outcomes at a State level, after identifying States where this is most required. We will focus on both equality and equity to ensure that children of all genders achieve grade level learning within the cultural context of their own State.
